SUMMARY:Woodshop Essentials: Milling Rough Lumber
DESCRIPTION:No woodworking experience required.Wood doesn't come flat and square from the lumber yard\; you need to mill your stock as the first step in any successful project\, ensuring the wood you are working with is straight\, the sides are parallel\, and have an even thickness.\r \n Learn. We'll start with a discussion on wood properties and lumber selection\, and why acclimating wood to your shop is important. We'll then cover basic machine functions and safety\, and how to mill boards flat and square using the jointer\, planer and table saw.\r \n Make. This class includes lots of hands-on time with the tools so we can focus on setup and technique rather than making a project\, but you are welcome to keep your milled board to use for a future project.\r \n Get Certified. This class will cover the safe operation of the table saw\, jointer and planer machines and will help prepare you for our certification tests. To use these machines independently\, you must be a member and pass one or more certification tests.
