Tiny Theater will celebrate National Poetry Month this April with an expansive four-weekend series of poetry readings honoring the rich diversity of poetic traditions across history and cultures. The FREE program will feature performances and readings spanning major poetic movements—from classical traditions to contemporary spoken word—along with special guest appearances and themed events.
Each weekend in April, hosted by ByWay Books & More, Tiny Theater will host gatherings that highlight influential poetry periods and genres including Renaissance and Metaphysical poetry, Romantic and Victorian poetry, Faith and Devotional poetry, Modern and Postmodern poetry, and Contemporary forms such as spoken word, performance poetry, slam, and hip hop poetry.
The series will also spotlight important thematic traditions including Beat poetry, protest and social justice poetry, eco-poetry, and cultural and ethnic poetic voices from around the world.
A highlight of the series will be a special guest appearance by Bob Rosenthal, a noted Beat poet, editor, and longtime literary collaborator with Allen Ginsberg. Rosenthal will participate in a special program celebrating the legacy and continuing influence of Beat poetry.
In addition to the historical and contemporary readings, the series will feature a special Children’s Poetry Day, welcoming young readers and families to experience the joy of poetry through playful readings, classic children’s verse, and opportunities for young poets to share their own work.
The Tiny Theater Poetry Month series is designed to bring together poets, readers, performers, and community members in a celebration of poetry as a living art form—one that spans centuries, cultures, and voices.
“We wanted to create a poetry festival that reflects the incredible breadth of the poetic tradition,” organizers said. “From Shakespeare’s era to today’s spoken word stages, poetry continues to speak to the deepest concerns of human life—beauty, justice, faith, identity, and imagination.”
Poetry lovers, performers, and community members are invited to attend and participate throughout the month.

Tiny Theater is also inviting poets and poetry enthusiasts to participate in the readings. Those interested in reading poetry during the series may contact the organizers for more information.
