Artists’ Reception, Crowell Gallery, Newfane

Nearly 20 Vermont and New Hampshire artists, members of the Saxtons River Art Guild, will exhibit their work at the Crowell Gallery, Moore Free Library, 23 West Street, in Newfane during the month of May. The artists work in a variety of media, including watercolor, oils, acrylics, pastels, and colored pencil. The exhibit opens on Saturday, May 3, with a reception planned from 12.30 to 2.30 pm. Artists will be present to talk about their art, and refreshments will be available. The exhibit will be on view through May 31.

Among the artists from Vermont are Cathy Conkling, watercolor; Dale DiMauro, watercolor; Nancy DiMauro, watercolor; Lori Ebare, colored pencil; Barbara Greenough, oil; Kathy Greve, watercolor; Deedee Jones, pastels; Ann Newsmith, watercolor; and Louise Zak, watercolor.

NH artists include Pilar Abaurrea, pastels; Carolyn Berglund, watercolor; Donna Cary, watercolor; Carol Corliss, pastels; Sarah M. Larson, oil; Marjorie Layman, watercolor; Donna Bascom Lund, watercolor; Judy Sylvester, watercolor; Liz Winchester-Larson, colored pencil; and Lynn Zimmerman, watercolor.

Founded in 1976, the Saxtons River Art Guild is a non-profit organization that promotes and encourages the advancement of the fine arts with about 80 members in southwestern New Hampshire and southeastern Vermont. Activities include: exhibit and sales venues, classes and workshops, open studio time September through May at the United Church of Bellows Falls and plein air gatherings June through August, luncheons with guest speakers and demonstrations, and trips to museums and galleries. An art scholarship is awarded yearly to a qualified senior from an area high school who will be majoring in the arts.
