Private Residence
Who We Are. We are a community of loving and intentional beings who practice dance for our individual and collective spiritual awareness, healing, growth and insight. We’re also in it for the creativity, fun, play, and connection.
All Are Welcome! We are primarily adults, ranging from 25-75. Only very occasionally do kids join us, although they are welcome too, as long as they can respect some moments of sacred silence and vulnerability. That said, our property has very dramatic hillsides that do warrant caution, especially for kids who don’t yet navigate danger without supervision.
Where We Dance. This time we’ll dance at our private property, outdoors on the beautiful earth. There is plenty of space, shade and sun, and the river below for playing and swimming afterwards. We have an outdoor kitchen with water and basic amenities and a very nice outhouse for your use. We ask you to use those while you’re here, and respect our privacy in the house.
If it’s looking like rain on the day of our dance, please check this Facebook page for updates and/or cancellations.
When We Dance. We gather to dance on the 2nd, 4th (and when there is one) 5th Sundays of the month year round.
We ask that you arrive at 11:00. We aim to begin with an opening circle at 11:15 to call in our awareness, attention and intention, sometimes guided by someone who volunteers to lead a conscious offering. Is that you? A closing circle follows the music, and allows us to share our experiences, insights, learning and connections.
Your contribution and commitment to co-create and intentionally open the space does matter.
Please consider the importance of the opening and closing circles that help create a welcoming, aware, collectively attuned container.
And, you’re welcome to join us no matter what time you arrive. Please slip graciously into whatever is occurring as you arrive.
How We Dance. There is no instruction (this is not a class) and no right or wrongs steps or movements. The intention is to express ourselves in motion, regardless of the emotions or thoughts that arise. From sadness or shyness to ecstatic and blissful, plus everything in between, we welcome it. Besides, “If you don’t do your dance, who will?” as Gabrielle Roth, creator of 5Rhythms said.
We encourage conscious touch, such as the practice of Contact Improvisation, with clear consent. We also welcome vocal expressions such as singing along and occasional hoots and hollers, but ask you to refrain from conversation during the dance.
The Music. The vibe of the music tends to be conscious and positive, following a general arc of a warm-up, ramp-up, full-out energetic burst and then a gradual cool-down, lasting about one hour, thirty minutes. For every dance, there is a new playlist, created by Ben Homola and some of them are available on Spotify afterwards. Follow @benhomola on Spotify for access to many public playlists.
After the Dance. A closing circle follows the music, and allows us to share our experiences, insights, learning and connections. To continue the joy of spending time in community, we invite you to stay around after the closing circle and enjoy a picnic lunch, making music and time in the river. There is a (somewhat tricky, but very doable) trail that leads to what the locals call “The Best Spot” on the West River. Bring a bathing suit and we’ll leave the option to skinny-dip up to you and those who are there at the moment.
Donations Please! It’s our joy to put this on and dedicated time, energy, and attention goes into making dance happen. If you’re joining us and gaining something from this space, please honor it energetically. We lovingly request your donation in the jar that is clearly visible as you enter the dance space.
We ask for $15-25/person, and if you can afford more, we greatly appreciate larger donations. It’s our joy to put this on and a lot of time, energy, and attention goes into making it happen. If you’re gaining something from this space, please honor it energetically. Cash preferred. To pay electronically: Pay Pal or Venmo @ParaLabs.
Parking. We ask that you pull your vehicle all the way into the driveway as far possible, even parking in front of our garage, but not blocking others in. There is plenty of room for everyone’s vehicles, so please don’t park in the road.
Spreading the word. Please share with those you know and trust and who would further enhance our dance family. We’d love to be sharing this beautiful space we create together with more like-minded folks.
