Bring your Signs of Support for Staff and Stand With Us!
When: Friday, Aug 22, 2025, 9 to 9:30 AM
Where:
Front Entry to BMH – off Belmont Street
Why:
Brattleboro Memorial Hospital (BMH) stands as a beacon of hope and healing in our community, but is facing stormy financial challenges exacerbated by recent government policies.
Amid dark rumors of drastic changes—including potential outsourcing of essential services and cuts to direct patient care—we, the residents of Brattleboro and surrounding areas, stand united in support of our hospital’s exceptional employees, staff, and the high-quality care they provide.
As the largest employer in our town, BMH is not just a healthcare facility; it is the heart of our community, built and sustained by the people of Brattleboro. In a state with one of the nation’s oldest populations—and Brattleboro among its most aging demographics—BMH shines as a model of genuine empathy and expertise in a healthcare system that too often prioritizes profits over people.
We implore the BMH Board of Directors: Preserve the local sourcing, quality care, and staff support that make our hospital exceptional. Consider reducing waste top down, not bottom up. Invest in solutions that honor our community’s values—perhaps through innovative partnerships, grants, or community fundraising, and expanding care opportunities —rather than short-term fixes that undermine patient outcomes and employee well-being.
Brattleboro loves our hospital. Let’s ensure it continues to love us back.
