Snow and ice will be removed from the uncovered parking lots in Brattleboro’s downtown area starting around midnight tonight and into the early morning hours.
Vehicles parked in the downtown lots must be removed or they may be towed at the owner’s expense.

We’ll discuss and, best we can, answer questions about the March 3 election on our form of government and next year’s budget, and whatever other issues people want to raise.
A winter storm is expected to impact the Brattleboro area beginning during the late night hours of Sunday, Feb. 22 and continuing through Monday, Feb. 23, 2026. Possible impacts include:
Snow-covered roads, especially during the Monday morning commute.
Periods of reduced visibility during heavier snowfall.
Gusty winds that may lead to blowing snow and tree damage.
The potential for scattered power outages.

There is so much going on ….
We are halfway through February (and halfway through Winter!) and the last few weeks have been a busy time for Beloved Winter Shelter as our region’s Extreme Cold Weather Shelter. We have been open for 26 nights straight when we had been struggling to keep our doors open for just 5 days a week. We couldn’t have done it without you.
It takes a great deal of work to shelter so few of our neighbors, but those of us who show up to do the work are providing more than shelter from the cold. What we lack in amenities we make up for in hospitality. We are giving folks who have nowhere to be a place where they can feel like they belong. Many of our hosts have experienced first hand what it is like to be homeless – what it’s like when there’s not a single place in this world where their presence isn’t questioned, their every move watched, and all that’s expected to be done in the privacy of their own home must be done in public. We take for granted what comes with the roof over our head. While we cannot offer the amenities a home of their own would provide, we do offer a feeling of belonging. A feeling of being home for the night.

The Brattleboro Selectboard will hold a regular meeting on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at 6:15pm in the Selectboard Meeting Room at the Brattleboro Municipal Center (230 Main Street, Room 212) and over Zoom. Prior to the regular meeting at 5:30pm, the Board will convene and is expected to move directly into executive session to discuss contracts, labor relations agreements with employees and the appointment or employment or evaluation of a public officer or employee. The Town of Brattleboro Department of Public Works will be performing emergency water main repairs on Linden Street near the Brattleboro Retreat on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026. Utility crews will be on-site beginning at 6:30 a.m., and traffic restrictions will remain in place until approximately 5 p.m.
Motorists should expect lane restrictions, potential delays, and alternating one-way traffic in the work zone. Traffic control personnel and signage will be in place to guide vehicles safely through the area.
In observance of Presidents’ Day, all Brattleboro Town offices will be closed on Monday, February 16, 2026, with the exception of emergency services.
Parking is free at all metered spaces and in the pay-and-display lots on Monday, February 16. All other violations will be enforced.
The public hearing noticed in the Brattleboro Reformer on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, and scheduled to take place during the 2/17/26 regular Selectboard meeting, regarding an application to the State of Vermont for an Implementation Grant under the Vermont Community Development Program has been cancelled. The regular Selectboard meeting will take place as usual, but there will be no public hearing on this matter. Please contact the Town Manager’s office if you have any questions or concerns.

Snow and ice will be removed from streets and uncovered parking lots in Brattleboro tonight, Jan. 27, 2026, starting at 11 p.m.
The affected streets include: Main Street, Flat Street, Elm Street, Elliot Street, High Street, Grove Street, Harris Place, Walnut Street, Chapin Street, Oak Street, Church Street, School Street, Park Place, Canal Street, Western Avenue, Green Street, and South Main Street.
On Tuesday, January 27, 2026, Central Street will be closed between Washington Street and Highland Street while the Utilities Division makes repairs to a sewer service. The work will take place in the area of 81 Central Street between 7:00am and 3:00pm. Residents will have access to their homes from either side of this closure.
Motorists should plan alternative routes during this time.
