The Brattleboro Citizen Police Communications Committee (CPCC) will meet on Monday, September 25, 2017 at 5:30pm in the Brooks Memorial Library Meeting Room.

Brattleboro’s Town Manager revealed the results of his summer explorations of issues of diversity, inclusion, and equity. He got generally good reviews for the summary of his report, but more than a few requested some additional specifics be included. Brattleboro seems to be in a good position to make progress over the long term, but benchmarks and budgets might help.
The pesky panhandling sign returned in a semi-uncertain form, with wording in question and sponsoring organizations and services asking for their logos to be removed. The private effort was to be a collaboration, but appears to have offended a few too many.
The board also signed a statement in support of other climate agreements being signed around the globe. (For Kate O’Connor’s sake, I’ll say here that Brattleboro has been working on climate issues for a long time, is committed to action, and will continue to be so.)

Diversity in Town government and the banning single-use plastic bags will be front and center at the next Brattleboro Selectboard meeting.
The Brattleboro Representative Town Meeting Human Services Review Committee will meet on Monday, September 18, 2017 at 5:00pm in the Brattleboro Food Co-op Community Room.
The next monthly meeting of the West Brattleboro Association (WBA) will be held on Thursday, September 14th at 7:00 PM at the Hayes Court Community Room on Garfield Drive.
The Brattleboro Tree Advisory Committee will hold a special meeting on Monday, September 11, 2017 at 8:00am in the Hanna Cosman Meeting Room at the Municipal Center.

The Brattleboro Selectboard returned from summer break to a full agenda and long meeting. A continued discussion of panhandling provided updates on efforts now underway as well as a new suggestion for a sign explaining “the rules.”
The Brattleboro Selectboard will meet again on September 5, returning to business and signifying the end of summer break for all of us. There’s quite a bit of business, too.

In observance of Labor Day, all Town offices will be closed on Monday, September 4, 2017, with the exception of emergency services.
The Brattleboro Energy Committee will meet on Monday, August 28, 2017, at 5:00pm in the Hanna Cosman Meeting Room at the Municipal Center. NOTE: This meeting replaces the regular meeting that would normally have taken place on September 4 (Labor Day).
The Brattleboro Representative Town Meeting Finance Committee will meet on Thursday, August 17, 2017, at 5:30pm in the Hanna Cosman Meeting Room at the Municipal Center.
The first installment of the 2017 Real Estate and Personal Property Taxes will be due on August 15th, 2017. Payments made after August 15th, 2017 will have an additional 1% interest added to the unpaid balance.
The Brattleboro Arts Committee will meet on Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at 4:00pm in the Hanna Cosman Meeting Room at the Municipal Center.
All Brattleboro Town Offices, including Brooks Memorial Library, will be closed on Friday, August 4, 2017, from 11:30am to 1:00pm for the annual employees’ picnic.
The midsummer night’s selectboard meeting was relaxed and productive. Brattleboro is getting a new dump truck and street sweeper, businesses received liquor licenses, police and fire facilities are coming along, and committee members were appointed.
A few midsummer grants and bids will be considered at the next Brattleboro Selectboard meeting, scheduled for Tuesday August 1 at the Municipal Center. (You remember the Selectboard, right?)
