Music Variety Show Raises Funds at Guilford Church

Guilford, VT—A music variety show to benefit the Guilford Community Church will entertain attendees on August 1 at 2 pm, showcasing a wide variety of talent from members of the congregation.

Mary Alice Amidon will sing “Jonathan Champman”, a poem by Steven and Rosemary Vincent Binet set to her original composition.

Dot MacDonald will strum two songs by John Prine on ukulele. Katherine Breunig will sing “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”. Breuniq will also perform an original dance to a recording of “We Are the World” written by Michael Jakson and Lionel Richie which was performed by 45 entertainers, raising tens of millions of dollars for famine relief in Africa in its day.

Connie Green, Cathy Hess, Mary Alice Amidon and Patrice Murray will join voices to sing an Antiphon “Sed Diabolus” by Hildegard of Bingen and “Waulking Song” a traditional Scottish melody. Fred Breunig will entertain with “The First Lord’s Song” from HMS Pinafore by Gilbert and Sullivan. Carole Crompton will perform the traditional folk ballad, “A Little Family”. Barbara Lee, Kachina Autenrieth, and Lorianna Weathers of “Skip-A-Beat” will perform an original composition, “The Little Engine That Could.”

The program will conclude with pianist Rachel Johnson playing “Starlight” and “Nautilus from Sea Pieces Op. 55, No. 7” by Edward MacDowell.

There are no advanced ticket sales. Donations on a sliding scale of $15-$25 per person can be made at the door. Complementary light refreshments will be served downstairs in Zeller Hall after the program.
