No work will be conducted on the project from Noon on Friday, May 22, 2026 until 6 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2026 in observance of the Memorial Day Holiday.

TRAFFIC IMPACTS:

Vermont Route 9: (Night Work)

Single-lane closures are scheduled to be in place on Vermont Route 9 beginning at the Greenleaf Street intersection in West Brattleboro and progressing east to the Interstate 91 Exit 2 interchange. Between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. Tuesday night through Friday morning, flaggers will direct alternating traffic patterns through the work zones. No street-side parking will be available in these areas of VT 9 from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday night through Friday morning. Motorcyclists should watch for grooved and uneven surfaces.

Brattleboro-Putney STP PS 25(11)

An individual work zone with one single-lane closure will continue to be in place on U.S. Route 5 in Dummerston with work progressing north. Flaggers will assist with alternating traffic patterns through the work zone. The work zone will shift from the northbound to the southbound travel lanes and may lengthen over the course of a day to a maximum distance of 1.5 miles. Motorcyclists should watch for grooved and uneven surfaces. Expect delays in this area.

TRAFFIC IMPACTS:

Brattleboro-Putney STP PS 25(11)

Shoulder closures are anticipated Monday and Tuesday of next week in the northern part of the project as a part of the traffic control coordination effort with Green Mountain Power.

Beginning Wednesday, one 1.5 mile long single-lane closure will be in place on U.S. Route 5 beginning at the Interstate 91 overpass in Brattleboro and progressing north. Flaggers will assist with alternating traffic patterns through the work zone. The work zone will shift from northbound to southbound travel lanes and continue to progress north over the course of the week. Motorcyclists should watch for grooved and uneven surfaces. Expect delays in this area.

Brattleboro NH PC 25(6) and Brattleboro-Putney STP PS 25(11)

Work is finishing up throughout the project limits for the season and crews will be accessing the shoulders of all project routes as well as approach routes during day time hours Monday through Friday next week.

Work is finishing up on U.S. 5 (Putney Road) from the intersection with Vermont Avenue to Noah’s Lane. Nighttime single-lane closures will be in place as needed Monday and Tuesday nights from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. with flaggers present to direct one-way alternating traffic through the work zone.

Daytime single-lane closures are scheduled to continue next week on U.S. 5 in Dummerston progressing south Monday through Wednesday. Flaggers will direct alternating traffic patterns through the work zones.

Nighttime single-lane closures controlled by flaggers will be present intermittently from Monday night through Saturday morning, 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Work is finishing up on Vermont Route 9 (Western Avenue and High Street), U.S. Route 5 (Main and Canal Street), and Vermont Route 30 (Linden Street).

Nighttime single-lane closures controlled by flaggers will be present as needed from Monday night through Saturday morning, 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Work is finishing up on Vermont Route 9 (Western Avenue and High Street), U.S. Route 5 (Main and Canal Street), and Vermont Route 30 (Linden Street). Motorists should watch for wet paint.

The Class 1 paving project is finishing up throughout downtown. Crews are working on VT 9 (Western Avenue and High Street) and will be finishing up in areas on U.S. 5 (Canal Street and Main Street). Work to be done includes hand painting (symbols, stop bars, crosswalks, etc.), sign installation, and some signal work.

Due to the Halloween Holiday on Friday, October 31st, 2025, crews will postpone their construction start as needed to accommodate trick or treaters.

Nighttime single-lane closures will be in place as needed Monday night through Saturday morning from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. for work on Vermont Route 9 (Western Avenue and High Street), U.S. Route 5 (Main and Canal Street), and Vermont Route 30 (Linden Street). Flaggers will be present to direct one-way alternating traffic through the work zones. Motorists should watch for wet paint.

Between Vermont Avenue and Noah’s Lane, crews will work on bridge joints and the painting operation will move to this location after paint is complete in the downtown area.

Once this section is complete and in the next few weeks, crews plan to move the active work zone from night shift to day shift and to continue to make progress on U.S. 5 from the Brattleboro/Dummerston town line north toward Putney.

Due to the holiday weekend, no work will occur after 6:00 a.m. Friday, October 10, 2025 until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.

Nighttime single-lane closures will be in place Tuesday night through Saturday morning from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Work will continue on Vermont Route 9 (Western Avenue and High Street) and U.S. Route 5 (Main Street). Flaggers will be present to direct one-way alternating traffic through the work zones. Motorists should be aware of wet paint.
