Next Stage Arts Project and Twilight Music present The Seamus Egan Project, featuring the founding member of the seminal Irish-American band Solas, at Next Stage on Friday, July 28 at 7:30 pm. Beginning with tunes from his groundbreaking 1996 album “When Juniper Sleeps,” which was the impetus for the formation of Solas, through music from his 20-year career with that iconic band, and adding some brand new tunes, Seamus, with Moira Smiley (vocals, piano, banjo), Kyle Senna (guitar) and other musical friends, will continue to explore the further reaches of the Irish tradition and beyond.
Twilight Music continues its 15th annual Twilight On The Tavern Lawn series of folk-rock, world beat, rock, pop, Celtic, blues and bluegrass summer concerts on Sunday, July 23 with The Gaslight Tinkers. The seven concert series continues every other Sunday through August 20. All concerts begin at 6:00 pm in downtown Putney on the Putney Tavern lawn (bring a lawn chair or blanket) or at Next Stage at 15 Kimball Hill in case of rain. The series is sponsored by the Town of Putney, Green Mountain Well, Soundview Paper Company, The Putney Food Co-op, The Stockwell Brothers and many other Putney businesses and organizations. The River Gallery School in Brattleboro will sponsor a trip for artists to Provence, France, from October 14-21. Anyone interested in learning more about the trip can attend an informational meeting on Thursday, July 13 from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at the school at 32 Main Street in Brattleboro.

Managers and the Union Bargaining Committee at Brattleboro Food Co-op have come to a tentative agreement on a new, three-year contract. The contract is scheduled for ratification by July 15th. More details will be available thereafter. All participants were trained in Interest-Based Problem Solving by FMCS (Federal Mediation Conciliation Service), which will continue to be used as a tool as issues arise during the life of the contract.

The Windham Regional Commission is assisting VTrans with getting word out about traffic safety this July 4th holiday.
The Town of Brattleboro reminds all property owners, residents, and business operators to keep sidewalks clear and free from any obstructions. This is necessary to maintain open and safe use of all sidewalks by all people, and it is especially important for people using wheelchairs, walkers, or strollers.

In observance of the July 4th holiday, all Town offices will be closed on Tuesday, July 4, 2017, with the exception of emergency services.
The call for entries for the Vermont Center for Photography’s 2nd Juried Photographic Book Exhibition “By the Books” is open until July 15, 2017. Noted photographer, Henry Horenstein will jury this exhibition Opening on August 4, 2017, it will showcase a wide variety of outstanding photographic books from artists around the world. This exhibition is a unique opportunity to “break out of the frame” and share your photographic work in an alternative format. All submitted books will be reviewed by our juror who will be solely responsible for selecting the books to be on display.
On Tuesday, June 27th, 2017, Vermont Roadworks, LLC, a contractor of the Town, will be repaving a section of Guilford Street (in the area PAST Summit Circle to near the Guilford/Brattleboro town line). We anticipate traffic impacts from approximately 7:00 am until the paving is completed around 7:00 pm.
