* We will be reading the Declaration of Independence in its original language. Some passages, particularly references to Native peoples and other groups, contain terms and viewpoints that are offensive today. At this historic 250th milestone, we present the document as an important historical text and invite reflection on both its ideals and the significant changes to our culture since it was written.
