SNAP Benefits, Astrology, and Politics

I am guessing the government shutdown will continue all day on Wednesday Nov. 5, 2025. The problem is that news sources say some people will not get food stamps SNAP program benefits until Nov. 7th, and they will only get half their usual amount.

Hmmm, that means some children will be whining and some babies will be crying and some adults will have reached their personal frustration limit. This is not a good time for a big ol’ full moon, but we have no control over our solar system.

Worse yet, the full moon is in Taurus, the most stubborn astrological sign of all. This full moon in Taurus is opposite the Sun in Scorpio, simultaneously very sensuous and also ready for battle.

Opposites are interesting to study. Today in

“Congressional Democrats, including Vermont’s three-member delegation, say that shutting down the government is the only lever they have to pull in their fight to preserve health insurance subsidies. About 30,000 Vermonters purchase their health insurance through the state’s Affordable Care Act marketplace.”

Looking at the opposing side of this Congressional bat-your-opponent-over-the-head-ball-game: (FY) 2024, approximately 66,500 people in Vermont received SNAP benefits, which was about 10.3% of the state’s population. Around 33,000 of them are adult voters.

So, I would like to publicly ask U.S. Congressperson Becca Balint and United States Senators Peter Welch and Bernie Sanders: Where did you learn your math? Why are you working so hard to help defeat your own political party in the 2028 Presidential Election? Do you seriously think that there is even a tiny chance of a Democrat getting elected President in 2028 if so much as one baby in Vermont or any other state dies of starvation because of what you are doing right now?

Kids who are 15 now, will vote in 2028. If their baby sister or baby brother dies of starvation this week, they won’t forget that you contributed to starving them to death.

How long does it take a baby to suffer brain damage from a lack of adequate nutrition? Just days!

Let’s define the middle class whose needs are more important to our Congressional delegation than the poorest amongst us. Middle class means people whose insurance premiums could be raised, but even if they are raised, they will not starve, they will still have enough money to pay their bills.

So, U.S. Congressperson Becca Balint and U.S. Senators Bernie Sanders and Peter Welch, what will it be? 30,000 middle class people pumping donations into your next political campaign, or 33,000 poor Vermont voters with hungry kids and babies at home, a total of over 66,000 Vermonters waiting on you with hungry stomachs because all of the food banks and soup kitchens and food pantrys in Vermont can not feed over 66,000 people this week, keeping in mind that many won’t receive benefits from state funds until Nov. 7th, Friday.

  • It's the GOP that won't feed children

In today’s news headlines, Senate GOP votes against Democratic bill to fund SNAP benefits.

    Here’s the full story:

    Sanders and Welch signed on!

Balint can’t because it’s a Senate bill, not House, and the GOP won’t let the House do anything anymore. : )

    Here’s the text:

It would be more helpful to aim the anger at those really responsible – the GOP is holding up the money. The money is there. Morals are not.

  • I read the article & it says the resolution was only to fund SNAP till end of November

Good Morning! I am optimistic because there was a large, an extremely large bird, on a tree behind my little house yesterday. I searched around the internet trying to find out what kind of bird, and it is clearly a type of Raptor, carnivorous, and an “OMEN”. I think it’s an omen of good luck.

So, what your buddies, U.S. Senators Bernie Sanders and Peter Welch were in favor of, using your link again:

“Jeff Merkley, a Democratic senator, and Chuck Schumer, the Senate Democratic leader, attempted to pass a resolution via unanimous consent that would have forced the Department of Agriculture to fund Snap benefits for the month of November.”

    https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/nov/03/senate-republicans-snap-funds-resolution

So, they only planned to fund SNAP until the end of this month. That puts parents and senior citizens and all of the poor folk of Vermont in continued stress trying to figure out if they have to stretch their few groceries into December and beyond.
