Brattleboro VTrans Paving Project Construction Update 11/21/2025

Work is finishing up on U.S. 5 (Putney Road) from the intersection with Vermont Avenue to Noah’s Lane. Nighttime single-lane closures will be in place as needed Monday and Tuesday nights from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. with flaggers present to direct one-way alternating traffic through the work zone.

Daytime single-lane closures are scheduled to continue next week on U.S. 5 in Dummerston progressing south Monday through Wednesday. Flaggers will direct alternating traffic patterns through the work zones.

Brattleboro VTrans Paving Project Construction Update 10/31/2025

The Class 1 paving project is finishing up throughout downtown. Crews are working on VT 9 (Western Avenue and High Street) and will be finishing up in areas on U.S. 5 (Canal Street and Main Street). Work to be done includes hand painting (symbols, stop bars, crosswalks, etc.), sign installation, and some signal work.

Due to the Halloween Holiday on Friday, October 31st, 2025, crews will postpone their construction start as needed to accommodate trick or treaters.

Brattleboro VTrans Paving Project Construction Update 10/17/2025

Between Vermont Avenue and Noah’s Lane, crews will work on bridge joints and the painting operation will move to this location after paint is complete in the downtown area.

Once this section is complete and in the next few weeks, crews plan to move the active work zone from night shift to day shift and to continue to make progress on U.S. 5 from the Brattleboro/Dummerston town line north toward Putney.

Due to the holiday weekend, no work will occur after 6:00 a.m. Friday, October 10, 2025 until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.

Nighttime single-lane closures will be in place Tuesday night through Saturday morning from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Work will continue on Vermont Route 9 (Western Avenue and High Street) and U.S. Route 5 (Main Street). Flaggers will be present to direct one-way alternating traffic through the work zones. Motorists should be aware of wet paint.

Nighttime single-lane closures will be in place Sunday night through Saturday morning from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Work will continue on Vermont Route 9 (Western Avenue and High Street), U.S. Route 5 (Main Street), and Vermont Route 30 (Linden Street). Flaggers will be present to direct one-way alternating traffic through multiple work zones. Motorists should be aware of wet paint.

Parking restrictions will be enforced during working hours. Pedestrians should watch for sidewalk detours.


Brattleboro VTrans Paving Project Construction Update 9/19/2025

Nighttime single-lane closures will be in place Monday night through Saturday morning from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. on U.S. 5 (Putney Road) from the intersection with Vermont Avenue to the approximate intersection with Noah’s Lane. Flaggers will be present to direct one-way alternating traffic through the work zones. Motorcyclists should watch for grooved and uneven surfaces.

In observance of the Independence Day Holiday, crews will be off the road at Noon on Thursday, July 3rd and return to work Monday, July 7th.

TRAFFIC IMPACTS:

Motorists should watch for crews accessing the shoulders along all approach routes and side streets to Vermont Route 9, Vermont Route 30, U.S. Route 5, and Vermont Route 142 while they install approach signs.

Selectboard Special Meeting Notes – Human Services Advisory Poll On Ballot

Chair Daniel Quipp was under the weather, so the remaining four members of the Brattleboro Selectboard boldy went forth approving the warnings for the Annual Town Meeting and the Representative Town Meeting.

The biggest news is that there will be an advisory poll on the ballot when voters go to elect representatives and weigh in on articles, asking what percentage of future town budgets should be spent on human services. There will be five options, ranging from zero to over 2%.


Brattleboro Selectboard Special Meeting Agenda

The Brattleboro Selectboard will hold a special meeting on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at 6:15pm in the Selectboard Meeting Room at the Brattleboro Municipal Center (230 Main Street, Room 212) and over Zoom. The attached agenda contains information on how to access the meeting remotely, including the required “passcode.”  ASL interpreters will be available for deaf and hard-of-hearing community members. The backup materials for this meeting will be available on the town Website Brattleboro.gov/Selectboard by the end of today.


Brattleboro Water Main Break on Putney Road

Utilities crews are on the scene of a water main break on Putney Road near the M&T Bank Operations Center.  Staff is assessing the situation and will provide updates as soon as possible.  Water pressure throughout the system has been affected.  Traffic on Putney Road between Town Crier Drive and Noah’s Lane will be restricted.  Motorists should seek alternate routes.
