Vermont Jazz Center’s Howard Brofsky

The Vermont Jazz Center is deeply saddened to announce that our beloved president emeritus, Howard Brofsky passed away on Thursday, October 17th, 2013 at 8:08 PM. He led a life filled with passion for music of all kinds, and always made time for the people he cared for. We at the Vermont Jazz Center are grateful for his enduring support and mentorship. He has been the pillar of our legacy, gracefully upholding the tradition of our founder, Attila Zoller while providing his own insight, unerring swing and sophistication. Dr. Bebop died as he lived, with grace and humor and warmth, surrounded by people he loved. He will be dearly missed.

Bob Bowman R.I.P.

Bob Bowman was one of the aforementioned “Senior Military, Intelligence, Law Enforcement, and Government Officials (who) Question the 9/11 Commission Report”. He was my fraternity brother at Rensselaer, and at my request, he spoke in Brattleboro on several occasions, discussing 9/11 and other events.

Early in his Air Force career, he was an “Interceptor” pilot, stationed at Andrews AFB near our nation’s capital. According to him, his job was to sit around for hours at a time drinking coffee.

Unless or until somebody flying a plane strayed outside of where he was supposed to be.

Sad to Lose Richie Havens

I always thought that he sounded a lot like Joe Cocker. My theory was that one of them was missing top front teeth and the other was missing lower front teeth. Never was able to find out. Opinion?
