The Brattleboro Selectboard had a special Thursday meeting to discuss other items not currently in the FY19 budget. This list included possible new employees, equipment, training, funding, and even some consideration of a donation to the skatepark project.
The Town of Brattleboro would like to remind everyone that the snow emergency ban is in effect.
The Brattleboro Tree Advisory Committee meeting previously scheduled for this evening has been CANCELLED due to the snow storm.
The Brattleboro Board of Listers will hold a special meeting on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at 9:00am in the Assessor’s Office (Suite 109) at the Municipal Center.
The Brattleboro Selectboard will hold a special meeting on Thursday, December 14, 2017, at 6:15pm in the Selectboard Meeting Room at the Municipal Center. ASL interpreters will be available for deaf and hard-of-hearing community members.
The Brattleboro Tree Advisory Committee will meet on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at 6:30pm in the Gibson Aiken Center conference room (207 Main Street).
On Thursday, December 14th, at 6:00 pm, the West Brattleboro Association (WBA) will host its annual Holiday Party at Dalem’s Chalet, 78 South Street. This is a time for people and businesses in West Brattleboro to get together socially and to celebrate the village’s past year. The evening will feature a cash bar with hors d’oeuvres prepared by the restaurant. The WBA suggests a voluntary donation of $5 toward the food, although no one will be turned away.
Connie Snow’s retirement speech, made at the large party at the River Garden this evening (Thursday, December 7) honoring her retirement after 30 years as Executive Director of the Windsor and Windham Housing Trust (originally the Brattleboro Community Land Trust):
The Brattleboro Selectboard heard from the Fire Department concerning a request for a new aerial ladder truck. This would be to replace a used truck, which is replacing an out-of-service truck. The board was sympathetic to the request and need, but had some concerns about the cost and how best to pay for it.
It’s not nearly as good as Chris’ write-ups, but here’s the “fresh off the edit station” recording of last Saturday’s budget meeting. It’s four hours of fun!
The Brattleboro Representative Town Meeting Finance Committee will meet on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at 5:30pm in the Maple View Conference Room at the Brattleboro Memorial Hospital.
At their next regular meeting, the Brattleboro Selectboard will discuss the probable purchase of a million dollar fire truck, and how best to pay for it. It’s part of their ongoing look at the proposed FY19 budget. (Don’t forget you can attend a special Saturday morning meeting to learn about all the departments, their staffing, and any proposed changes to their operations on Dec 2.)

The Brattleboro Representative Town Meeting Human Services Review Committee CHANGED THE START TIME of its meeting on Thursday, November 30, 2017 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm AND THE LOCATION OF THE MEETING. The Committee will meet at the Winston Prouty Campus (formerly Austine School), 209 Austine Drive, Holton Hall, 2nd Floor, on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at 7:00pm. It is anticipated that the committee will enter into executive session at 7:05pm to discuss agencies’ financial records exempt from the access to public records. (See REVISED2 agenda)

The Brattleboro Selectboard will hold a special meeting on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 9:00am in the Selectboard Meeting Room at the Municipal Center. Please note that the Board will discuss a portion of the FY19 Proposed Budget which is a separate document and can be found on the homepage of the Town’s website under “News” and on the Selectboard page under “Draft Minutes and Supporting Documents.” ASL interpreters will be available for deaf and hard-of-hearing community members.
The Brattleboro Citizen Police Communications Committee (CPCC) will meet on Monday, November 27, 2017 at 5:30pm in the Brooks Memorial Library Meeting Room.
Brattleboro became the first town in the state to ban single use plastic bags under 2.25 mil in thickness. It was the culmination of nearly a year-long effort of citizens and officials, and was adopted by a split-decision of the Brattleboro Selectboard.
In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, all Brattleboro Town offices will be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 23 and 24, 2017, with the exception of emergency services.
