The Bandwagon Summer Series closes its 2025 season with a high-energy performance by Hazmat Modine on Saturday, September 27 at 4:00 PM at the Putney Inn Field, 57 Putney Landing Road, Putney. Gates open at 3:00 PM.
For more than 25 years, Hazmat Modine has been creating what they call “a uniquely intercontinental sonic collage encompassing a tremendous range of instrumental, vocal, and conceptual originality—all with a lot of soul and groove.” The New York–based, eight-piece band draws on everything from Blues, Soul, and American Roots to Gypsy Jazz, Avant Garde loft music, Country, and Rock ’n’ Roll. With members spanning generations—from their 20s to their 70s—the group embodies both deep tradition and constant reinvention.
Frontman Wade Schuman’s riveting vocals and unparalleled harmonica playing anchor a soundscape built from trumpet, saxophone, trombone, guitar, banjo, violin, drums, and even tuba—augmented by folk instruments and special guests. Their global resume includes appearances at WOMAD in England, Australia, and New Zealand; jazz and folk festivals across Europe and North America; and collaborations with luminaries such as the Kronos Quartet, Natalie Merchant, and Tuva’s throat-singing ensembles Huun-Huur-Tu and Alash. Their most recent album, Bonfire (2023), continues to expand their reputation for adventurous and soulful music-making.
The Bandwagon Summer Series is a family-friendly outdoor cultural performance series that runs May through September at fields, farms, and parks across Windham County. Each show features food vendors, drinks, and a play area for kids. For Hazmat Modine’s performance, 802 Soul Kitchen will be serving up delicious fare, and Barr Hill cocktails return by popular demand. As always, kids under 12 get in free—so bring the whole family, a picnic, and a blanket or folding chair.
Tickets: $22 in advance / $25 at the gate / Kids under 12 free.
