Brattleboro Food Co-op Announces New GM

The Brattleboro Food Co-op Board of Directors is pleased to share that Emilee Hobbs has been hired as our new General Manager, beginning September 22.

You may already know Emilee from her work as Interim GM since June and as our Director of People and Culture since early 2022. In those roles, she created programs that boosted morale, lowered staff turnover by more than 20%, and built stronger relationships with our union partners through open and respectful dialogue. Over the past few months as Interim GM, she has demonstrated the steady leadership and vision our Co-op needs to thrive.

This decision reflects the strong support Emilee received from managers, staff, and union stewards, along with her proven ability to lead collaboratively. The appointment follows a thorough search process that considered 140 applicants, with 40 candidates receiving close review.

We look forward to this next chapter under Emilee’s leadership. Her clear thinking, courage, and cooperative spirit will serve our Co-op and community well. The Board extends heartfelt thanks to the staff and shareholders who participated in the search process and shared their hopes for the Co-op. Please join us in congratulating Emilee on this new role!

I am truly grateful to the Board, our staff, and our member-owners for their trust in me to lead our Co-op. The Brattleboro Food Co-op is truly a community hub—a place to gather, learn, and share good food. I look forward to seeing what our BFC community can accomplish together.
