The Brattleboro Selectboard will hold a meeting on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at 6:15pm in the Selectboard Meeting Room at the Brattleboro Municipal Center (230 Main Street, Room 212) and over Zoom. Prior to the regular meeting at 5:15pm, the Board will convene and is expected to move directly into executive session to discuss contracts and labor relations agreements with employees. The attached agenda contains information on how to access the meeting remotely, including the required “passcode.” Closed captioning will be available for deaf and hard-of-hearing community members. The backup materials for this meeting will be available on the town website by the end of the day.

2026 Community Tree Fund Mini-Grant – Authorize Application of Up To $1500 Grant

In a memorandum dated March 6, 2026, Public Works Assistant Director Pete Lynch
requests authorization to apply for a 2026 Community Tree Fund Mini-Grant through the
Vermont Urban and Community Forestry Program. There is no match required. By approving
the Consent Agenda, the Board will authorize the Department of Public Works, on behalf of
the Tree Advisory Board, to apply for a 2026 Community Tree Fund Mini-Grant through the
Vermont Urban and Community Forestry Program in an amount up to $1,500.
In a memorandum dated March 20, 2026, Town Manager John Potter discusses a recent
national opioid settlement and the next steps required for the Town to participate. The Board
is asked to approve participation in the settlement and sign the required resolution. By
approving the Consent Agenda, the Board will approve participation in the opioid settlement
with the six remaining regional drug distributors, agree to sign the included resolution, and
direct the Town Manager to sign the Combined Participation Release Form.
In a memorandum dated March 20, 2026, Town Manager John Potter discusses a parade
and open air permit application from Indivisible Brattleboro for a community building event to
be held in the Preston Lot, with a march from the Preston Lot and back. There will be no
street closures required. Indivisible is expecting around 3,000 people, and they have
discussed logistics with Town staff. By approving the Consent Agenda, the Board will
approve a parade and open air permit to Indivisible Brattleboro, for an event on March 28th,
2026.
In a memorandum dated March 20, 2026, Town Manager John Potter discusses the potential
hanging of a banner across Main Street to advertise Annual Town Meeting. Town staff
collected several bids and Minutemen Press of Brattleboro, Vermont had the lowest bid at
$466.40. By approving the Consent Agenda, the Board will approve the purchase of a banner
to hang over Main Street to advertise Annual Town Meeting for a total cost of $466.40 and to
approve the language in the memo for the banner.
