Demonstration of Dry Powder Extinguisher

An effective demonstration of the new Improved dry powder fire extinguisher was given at the junction of High and Main streets Monday evening. Three dry goods boxes were piled up and saturated with a gallon of kerosene oil, after which a lighted match was applied. After the blaze was well under way the powder was applied at the base of the fire, and the carbonic gas arising therefrom immediately snuffed out the fire.
