Where: Brattleboro Transportation Center, Brattleboro Vermont

River Wall, the kinetic sculpture on the façade of the Brattleboro Transportation Center, conceived of as a temporary installation, is scheduled to come down in the Fall of 2018. The artists who created it–Elizabeth Billings, Evie Lovett and Andrea Wasserman–would like to share with the community an idea for a similar piece as a permanent installation. Please join the presentation and discussion.

River Wall was created in 2016 as part of From the River, To the River, a series of five interrelated art installations celebrating the connection of the Town of Brattleboro and the Connecticut River. It was funded by a National Endowment for the Arts Our Town grant to the Town of Brattleboro, Vermont. River Wall is a 32’ x 32’ kinetic sculpture on the facade of the Brattleboro Transportation Center, comprised of 38,000 sequin disks which move in the air currents, echoing patterns of wind on water. The luminescence of water permeates the contemporary transportation hub of the community, serving as a reminder that the Connecticut River is a mere four minute walk away.
