Windham World Affairs Council and Latchis Arts Spotlight Series present the award-winning film, TAKING ROOT, the story of the Green Belt Movement of Kenya and its founder Wangari Maathai, the first environmentalist and first African woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize. This film by local filmmakers Lisa Merton and Alan Dater will be shown in Brattleboro for the first time in over 10 years and marks a decade since the death of Maathai.
The screening will take place on Thursday, August 5th at 7:00 pm at the Latchis Theatre in Brattleboro, VT. Free tickets are available at EventBrite or WindhamWorldAffairsCouncil.org. A $10 suggested donation will be accepted at the door. A live Q&A discussion with the filmmakers will follow the screening. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Wangari Maathai Foundation.
