Memorial Planting To Honor Helene Henry

At 11 a.m. on Saturday April 16th, 2022 there will be a Memorial Tree Planting for Helene Henry at Prospect Hill Cemetery, South Main Street, Brattleboro.

Helene was known for her passion, commitment, and steadfast dedication to enhancing Brattleboro’s green spaces. She strongly advocated for trees being a part of any landscape, if she had her say. She believed that trees were the answer.

When the Brattleboro Tree Advisory Board was created, Helene recruited Martin Webster, local landscaper. He recalled “She was an obvious force: her personality, unsparing logic, and inclusive demeanor were good omens for a productive and enjoyable volunteer experience. And it was.”

“Helene wanted to plant trees around town,” said forester and eventual Town Tree Warden Dan Adams. “She and I, along with many others, planted hundreds of trees. We became good friends and my life, as with all others she touched, was so much better for it. If there is an afterlife you can bet that she is planting trees.”

All are invited to participate in the plantings to celebrate her life.
