Announcement from Jeremy Weir Alderson director, Homelessness Marathon

We are pleased to announce that the 16th Homelessness Marathon will originate from Brattleboro, VT on the night of Wednesday, February 19th. With this broadcast, we will be returning to our original nighttime format, but there will be two significant changes brought about by our general lack of funds.

First, we will only be doing a six hour broadcast from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m., EST. This is to save money, but it has a good side. Brattleboro is a town of only about 10,000-12,000 and, despite a burgeoning homeless population, doesn’t have enough homeless people to fuel a 14-hour broadcast. In a shorter broadcast, though, being in Brattleboro will allow us to air the voices of rural homelessness that we have had a hard time gettting on the broadcast when we’ve been based in a big city. We think it should be good radio.

thank you, Jeremy Weir Alderson director, Homelessness Marathon

  • Thanks, WVEW

I try to listen to this each year.

WVEW (and before that rfb) has had a long history of supporting this program by airing the full marathon, and it is great to see that we’ll be the epicenter for the broadcast this year.

    Nice work, WVEW.
