Savings Bank of Walpole Hosts Annie Kuster

SAVINGS BANK OF WALPOLE HOSTS CONGRESSWOMAN ANNIE KUSTER AS PART OF ABA’S “TAKE YOUR LAWMAKER TO WORK” INITIATIVE

Keene, NH, – Savings Bank of Walpole was pleased to host Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02) on August 23rd as part of the American Bankers Association’s (ABA) “Take your Lawmaker to Work,” program. During her visit to the Bank, Congresswoman Kuster met SBW employees and customers and also learned more about the Bank’s operations and role as a community partner.

Along with a tour of the Bank, Congresswoman Kuster attended an informational presentation that focused on the Bank’s history and the important role SBW plays in helping to support the community. The Congresswoman heard testimonials from two SBW customers – one small business and the other a first-time homebuyer, who recounted the ways the Bank made a definitive difference in helping them thrive. In addition, she was given the opportunity to learn more about the degree to which many of the issues being discussed in Washington affect the work SBW does every day.

“We are excited to have had the chance to provide Congresswoman Kuster with a hometown perspective on banking — specifically the many ways Savings Bank of Walpole has a positive impact on supporting our local community,” says Gregg Tewksbury, President and CEO for Savings Bank of Walpole.

This visit gave SBW the opportunity to present the Congresswoman with important insight about how banks, especially smaller institutions, are impacted by regulatory issues and how Washington can make a difference by implementing positive legislative changes. Mr. Tewksbury noted that, “we are losing a bank each day in our country due to mergers primarily due to the increased regulatory burden and this trend will leave consumers with far too few choices in the years ahead for banking services. Regulatory relief is necessary to reverse this trend.”
