England’s Trump

The English have their own Trump

His name is Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson (AKA Boris or BOJO).

He’s a former journalist who has served as Prime Minister of the UK and Leader of the Conservative Party since 2019.

In his first speech as PM, Johnson promised that the United Kingdom would leave the European Union on October 31, 2019 with or without a deal. The UK Parliament ratified the withdrawal agreement, and the UK officially left the EU on 31 January 2020.

Johnson was born in New York City to British parents, and at first held British-American dual citizenship.

He is a survivor of Covid 19.

Johnson has evoked comparisons (both ideological and physical) with President Donald Trump. He has been described as “like Donald Trump with a thesaurus”. Fellow Conservatives describe him as a “nicer Donald Trump”. Trump has acknowledged the comparison. Johnson was critical of Trump on several occasions before Trump was elected; but he has since praised Trump as president.
