Next WBA Meeting on February 11, with Police and Fire Facilities Discussion

The next monthly meeting of the West Brattleboro Association (WBA) will be held in the Hayes Court Community Room on Garfield Drive (just west of the W Bratt PO) on Thursday, February 11th at 6:00 PM. After a review of the treasury report, the WBA will discuss the status of the welcome signs and hear a report about the BizUp session held in January. On the agenda is also a discussion of the Neighborhoods Fund which heretofore has helped the WBA provide mini-grants to neighborhood groups doing their own service work, improving their grounds, etc.  The question is whether to seek new money to fund this work.

In addition, the group will revisit a letter sent to the Planning Commission regarding notification to abutters about public hearings when the abutting property is owned by a co-operative or collective, and whether to resend it. The WBA also recently conducted a neighborhood safety survey and results of that will be discussed. Another agenda item is the initiation of a WestB Welcome Letter.

The group will also discuss future events including the regular March (10th) meeting as to whether to invite Town Meeting members for a Q&A as they have in the past, Green-up Day on May 7th, and the possibility of once again having a Chicken BBQ on May 28th.

At 7:00 PM, Town Manager Peter Elwell, Fire Chief Mike Bucossi, and Police Chief Michael Fitzgerald will give a brief presentation about the proposed fire and police facility upgrades after which there will be an informal Q&A session. Any and all concerned West B citizens are invited to attend.

The purpose of the Association is to promote the thoughtful and effective evolution of the community of West Brattleboro as a place that is safe, healthy, attractive, and prosperous and also to help West B residents be informed Brattleboro community members.  WBA monthly meetings are open to all residents and business owners, and anyone else interested in West B.
