Brattleboro Selectboard Special Meeting Agenda, March 15, 2017

The Brattleboro Selectboard will hold a special meeting on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at 6:00pm, in the Academy School gymnasium, just prior to the Representative Town Meeting Informational Session. It is anticipated that the Board will enter into executive session at 6:00pm to discuss negotiating or securing of real estate purchase or lease options, and immediately adjourn after the executive session.


Brattleboro Town Meeting Informational Forum and District Caucuses – Public Invited

Brattleboro Town Selectboard will hold a pre-town meeting information forum on Wednesday, March 15 at Academy School beginning at 7:00 PM. At 6:30 p.m., town meeting members of each district will be available to meet with constituents to offer residents an opportunity to share their views and discuss articles to be voted on at the annual meeting. Also, at that time, all three districts will be accepting nominations to fill town meeting member vacancies for 1 year.


Walking On The I-91 Bridge in Brattleboro

A beautiful, clear, cold day in Brattleboro for a town field trip to the new I-91 bridge, for a rare chance to walk across the bridge before it is opened to traffic. Many people took advantage of the offer of free bus rides to the site, departing from the BUHS parking lot at regular intervals.


Next WBA Meeting on March 9th to Feature Q&A with District 1 Town Meeting Members

The next monthly meeting of the West Brattleboro Association (WBA) will be held on Thursday, March 9th at 6:00 PM in the Hayes Court Community Room on Garfield Drive (just west of the W Bratt PO). After a review of the treasury report and the 2017 budget, the Neighborhoods Fund, and BizUp activities, the WBA will discuss various potential uses of the balance in the Sign Fund.


Invitation To Walk Across The New I-91 Brattleboro Bridge

The design-build team of PCL Civil Constructors, Inc. and Figg Bridge Engineers, Inc. in conjunction with the Town of Brattleboro, invites the public to participate in guided walks across the 1,036-foot, three-span segmental I-91 Brattleboro Bridge on the afternoon of Saturday, March 4. During the walk, the community will have a chance to take pictures and ask questions about the bridge design and construction.


Town Clerk Office Election Hours

The Brattleboro Town Clerk’s office will be open Saturday, March 4 from 9 a.m. to noon for early voting in Brattleboro’s Annual local elections. The Town Clerk’s office will be closed Tuesday, March 7 as staff will be conducting elections in the Municipal Center, room 212. Polling hours are 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.


Selectboard Meeting Notes – Melrose Structures Approved for Demolition, and Permits

The Brattleboro Selectboard was missing both their Chair and Town Manager, but efficiently managed their agenda at their regular meeting Tuesday night.

The board approved of most of their annual list liquor permits and polices, though two establishments have an additional hurdle before their licenses are granted. They also approved of demolition of four buildings at Melrose Terrace, the Strolling of the Heifers received event permits, and a debate over parking meters for the Stroll will occur at a later date.

Cruisers will get up-fits, Cultural Intrigue will get technology, and the Town will get servers.


Brattleboro Selectboard Agenda and Notes – February 21, 2017

At their regular meeting on Tuesday, the Brattleboro Selectboard will be approving purchases and permits.

The board will hear an update from the Brattleboro Area Prevention Coalition, get an update on the facilities projects, hear about town finances, and talk about demolition of part of Melrose Terrace. You can bring up other items not on the agenda during public participation.


Snow Removal From Brattleboro Streets Thursday Evening

The Town of Brattleboro would like to remind everyone that the snow emergency ban is in effect.

Snow and ice will be removed from the streets in the downtown area this evening. Streets will include, but not limited to the following: Elliot, Walnut, Harris, Canal, and Western Ave. If time permits, additional clean up on Main Street may also occur

Parked vehicles in the downtown district must be removed by 11:00pm or they will be towed at the owner’s expense.


Brattleboro Presidents Day Closings

In observance of Presidents’ Day, all Brattleboro Town offices will be closed on Monday, February 20, 2017, with the exception of emergency services.

Parking is free at all metered spaces and in the pay-and-display lots on Sunday and Monday, February 19 and February 20. All other violations will be enforced.

Brooks Memorial Library will be closed on Sunday and Monday, February 19 and February 20, 2017.

Trash, recycling, and composting are NOT affected by the holiday. Collections will take place on the normal schedule
