Brattleboro’s Seasonal Overflow Shelter Opens Monday, November 18th

BRATTLEBORO, VT—Brattleboro’s Seasonal Overflow Shelter (SOS) will open Monday, November 18th.  After a successful first and second season located at the upper dormitory on the Winston Prouty campus (formerly the Austine School for the Deaf), Groundworks’ staff and Board are grateful for the opportunity to return to the space for a third year.

This year’s shelter will operate the same as prior years at this location: anyone seeking shelter will have to register for a bed through Groundworks Drop-In Center (at 60 South Main Street) between 9am and noon.  Access to the shelter will only be permitted through transportation provided by Groundworks. 


Brattleboro Senior Center Temporary Closure

The Brattleboro Recreation and Parks would like to announce that The Brattleboro Senior Center will be closed to both the congregate meals and all activities that occur in the Senior Center due to kitchen floor replacement September 7th-15th.  During this time activities such as Painting classes and Tai Chi will still run in their normal time and location on various other floors of the building, please use the front entrance of the building during this time frame. 


Free Food For Children This Summer

Windham Southeast Supervisory Union is pleased to announce its continued sponsorship of the Summer Food Service Program. Meals will be provided this summer to all children without charge regardless of income or residence.  Meals are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability.

Children and families are invited to the Kick Off Event on June 25th at Living Memorial Park Pool.  Children and adults eat for free at this event.  Lunch is from 12-1pm. Free passes to the pool will be given with the meal, so stay the afternoon to swim.
