Brattleboro Selectboard Agendas and Notes – April 20 and 21, 2026

The Brattleboro Selectboard will hold a special joint meeting with the Hinsdale, NH Selectboard on Monday, April 20, 2026, at 6:30pm at 11 Main Street, Hinsdale, NH.

The Brattleboro Selectboard will hold a regular meeting on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at 6:15pm in the Selectboard Meeting Room at the Brattleboro Municipal Center (230 Main Street, Room 212) and over Zoom.  Prior to the regular meeting at 5:15pm, the Board will convene and is expected to move directly into executive session to discuss contracts, labor relations agreements with employees, and pending civil litigation to which the Town may be a party. The attached agenda contains information on how to access the meeting remotely, including the required “passcode.”  Closed captioning will be available for deaf and hard-of-hearing community members. The backup materials for this meeting will be available on the town website by the end of the day.

Brattleboro Stormwater Master Plan

The Town of Brattleboro is undergoing a Stormwater Master Planning Process to develop strategies for design, funding, and implementation of stormwater best management practices. The project team, led by Watershed Consulting Associates, invites you to learn more about stormwater issues and possibilities in Brattleboro and give your feedback on priorities and concerns. There will be a meeting held on Wednesday, May 4th from 2:00 to 3:00pm via Zoom.

Selectboard Meeting Notes – Steve Barrett To Retire, Stormwater, and a Bridge

The Brattleboro Selectboard met on the last evening of summer, and heard big news. Steve Barrett, long-time employee of the Town, will be retiring and Dan Tyler will be taking his place.  The switch happens in December.

There was discussion of racism in the community, COVID safety at the Stone Church, stormwater plans, designs for and objections to a new bridge on Western Ave, and more.

A new bridge near Melrose Street will be one focus of attention for the Brattleboro Selectboard at their next meeting. VTrans reps will be on hand to explain the details and answer questions.

The board will also hear more about the creation of a stormwater utility and master plan for the town, will renegotiate tax payments for the Retreat, explore grants for a health program and for a water and sewer capacity study, and more. You can always bring up other items not on the agenda during public participation.

Bonnyvale Road Closure For Stormwater Improvements

Starting Monday, August 17th, The Department of Public Works will begin stormwater improvements on Bonnyvale Road. The work will take place between number 1043 and 1219. As a result, this section of Bonnyvale Road will be closed to through traffic between the hours of 7:00 AM and 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Local traffic will be able to access the driveways within the project area. Weather permitting, the project is anticipated to be completed by August 28th. Advanced warning signs will be in place to warn of the closure.

The Brattleboro Selectboard will approve a bid to begin construction of a skatepark at their next regular meeting. Yes, you read that right. The skatepark is finally going to be built.

There will be updates on COVID-19 from the Town Manager and a status update on Representative Town Meeting, a sewer rodder will be bought,  Groundworks will get a $100,000 grant, the Windham Regional Commission will give an update, stormwater will be managed, and more. You can bring up other items not on the agenda during Public Participation.
