This is a friendly reminder that early voting is currently available at the Brattleboro Town Clerk’s office. Office hours for the Brattleboro Town Clerk’s office are 8:30AM – 5:00PM, Monday through Friday. In addition to regular hours, the office will open Saturday, March 3, from 9AM to noon for early voting and will be closed Tuesday, March 6, election day.

Montpelier, Vt. – Governor Phil Scott issued the following statement regarding the passing of Timothy O’Connor, Jr., former Speaker of the Vermont House of Representatives:

The O’Connors have been friends since I was a young lawyer starting my practice. Tim had such a great sense of humor, especially when it involved the Irish. I told Martha this morning how I will miss him but that I’ll look, every day, at the walking stick he brought me from Ireland.

At a Senate hearing, Senator Cory Booker passionately chastised Trump’s Homeland Security Secretary for claiming not to remember what Trump said about African Countries.

Petitions for Brattleboro Town and Town School District Officers and Town Meeting Members are now available at the Town Clerk’s office. Town elections will be Tuesday, March 6, and the Annual Representatives Town Meeting, Saturday, March 24.

Now that the 46 proposal has been defeated by all 4 towns voting, can we get some discussion & info about what happens next?  I kept hearing that if it was turned down “the state will impose” a plan on the towns.  But I also know there’s some sort of alternative group that has apparently already been meeting and is now maybe gearing up to provide an alternative proposal to the state before whatever the deadline is for that.
