The Brattleboro School Endowment is hosting its annual fall fund raiser, at Lilac Ridge Farm, on Saturday, September 19th, starting at 11 AM.
ANNOUNCEMENT/PRESS RELEASE: Happy fall! The Brattleboro School Endowment is once again holding its one-and-only fundraiser: the annual mum sale! Order now for pick-up at Lilac Ridge Farm on Saturday, September 19th, starting at 11 AM.
Lilac Ridge will also have their creemee stand open that day, and they have a fantastic selection of cut flowers and all sorts of freshly harvested veggies.
Mums come in yellow, orange, white, red and pink/purple. You choose color and size: 4-inch for $3.50; 8.5-inch for $9, 10-inch hanging for $18, or huge patio pots of 12-inches for $25. The mums are all late-blooming varieties, and will arrive with some color starting to show. Plan on color well into October, potentially into early November still. Mums tolerate temperatures down to around 25F. Many often come back next year, depending on where they are planted and how cold the winter drops.
Asters are a blue/purple, and are available in 4-inch for $3.50 or 8.5-inch pots for $9. Asters often do return the following year, and can thrive for years with minimal effort.
Ornamental cabbages and kale can be ordered in 4-inch for $3, 6-inch for $5, 8.5-inch for $8 or 12-inch patio pots for $25. Cabbages and kale laugh in the face of the cold.
Purple Fountain Grass, an annual with fun fluffs, is a traditional look alongside mums; it comes in a 4-inch pot for $6, a gallon pot for $10 or a 12-inch patio pot for $25.
Celosias come in gorgeous hues of orange, pink, red and yellow. They are not hardy and need to be kept from frost. They are a great accent in a quite large 6-inch pot for $8.
Millet makes a real statement, with its corn/cattail hybrid look. It comes in four varieties and two sizes: Purple Majesty, Jester, Jade Princess or Copper Prince. A gallon size is $12, or a 12-inch patio pot is $25.
The last option is a surprise: a combination of millet with asters, mums or celosia in varying colors, for $25. Order and see what comes!
