Information Meeting for River Gallery School Trip to Provence on May 10

An informational meeting for anyone interested in joining the River Gallery School’s trip to Provence in September will be held on Thursday, May 10, at 6:00 at the school on 32 Main Street in Brattleboro. Those interested in learning more about the tour is invited to attend.

The trip will take place from September 15-22, 2018, with a three-day optional stay prior to the tour in Avignon. The tour is sponsored by the River Gallery School and organized by Travel Fever Tours of Putney.

The tour will be headquartered in the town of Vaison-la-Romaine, nestled in a rural corner of Provence where castle ruins sit side by side with ancient stone villages, and tidy French gardens grow beneath spreading fruit trees. Vaison-la-Romaine itself dates to Roman times, complete with an amphitheater and other ruins. Of more recent vintage is the medieval castle that tops a labyrinth of ancient village streets.

Daily instruction under the guidance of River Gallery School painting teacher Lynn Zimmerman will be available in the medium of your choice. One-on-one support will also be offered during art outings.

Non-artists are warmly welcomed on this tour and will enjoy the many cultural activities and additional excursions planned according to your interests.

Tour Art Instructor and Mentor:
Lynn Zimmerman, River Gallery School Teacher
Lynn finds great joy in helping her students explore and discover their artistic abilities. Her love of creating art comes through as she helps her students understand how to see, use color, depict light and shadow, and translate these elements into paintings and drawings. Technical skills are an important part of her instruction, but always with the goal of helping her students create the pictures they want to create. Whether the subject matter is a hillside vineyard in Provence or a plate of cheese, Lynn helps her students see the paintings they want to make, and make the paintings they want to see.
