IV. Agenda Additions/Changes

V. Communication Tools for District

a. Facebook Page –

There was a motion passed by the board at their August 19 meeting: “Approve the creation by the communication council members of a WSESD Board presence on social media”

Michelle created a WSESD Board Facebook page that was approved by the board at the Sept 3 meeting.

The WSESU chair, Kerry Amidon, who is also chair of the Vernon board, reached out to see how WSESU and Vernon could be included and represented.

Approval from other WSESD board members was given to share any district information on the social media pages. We may share school-specific events and news when appropriate, but need to have consistency and a manageable scope of information for schools across the district.

Will disseminate after next agenda is available – to school and PTO pages, parenting groups, and town/community pages

The need for press releases was discussed for the following kinds of information:

* Election details

* Annual meetings and related information sessions

* The possibility of hosting candidate forums for school board elections was discussed – questions could be developed by leadership councils.

The committee will need to create a calendar of when to do press releases for each of these.

b. Email – how is it working

Michelle will create a list of all the different committees that are part of the WSESD board structure and then Jaime will create a google form to collect data of which meetings people would like to be on an email list for. The google form can be sent out via schoolmessenger to all enrolled families.

c. Remote students – this was not discussed

VI. Leadership Council Summit

a. Pick a fall date and invite all members of leadership council to share ideas  Superintendent would like to schedule a leadership council summit – this could help  create a district wide understanding about what responsibilities the leadership councils are charged with and how they are structured.

The committee discussed communication to each school community and town community about leadership council meetings. Every meeting should be publicized to the school community and any non-school community members who are interested.

VII. Next Meeting: We will connect on 9/15 to plan a regular monthly meeting time

VIII. Adjourn – the meeting adjourned at 1:44pm
