Great stuff, and especially nice to see photos. She’s cute! (Or should I say vivacious?)

I like the newspaper article wondering about her. We could help them out! : )

    ….

For those wondering why this might be here, This Day in History for Jan 27 says:

“1888: The vivacious actress, Myra Goodwin, will appear at the town hall in the latter part of February.”

I’m enjoying the way people dig deeper with these items, filling in and expanding what we know.

    • This Day in History

As a lifelong history buff, this is one of my favorite sections. It’s great that BusyMom has the ‘time’ to do this.

If I remember it right, the first article expansion I read here was when you did that for a Teddy Roosevelt day in history piece about the president visiting Brattleboro.

      • History questions

It’s much easier with the Internet to do some history sleuthing these days, I find. People keep adding things, and everytime you look there’s another piece of a puzzle coming together.

Good trivia question: which presidents have visited Brattleboro?

        Roosevelt, Hayes, Coolidge for sure…

        • George Bush Sr?

I remember someone telling me a story about George Bush Sr visiting Brattleboro as a candidate, and how some residents were not that receptive to his message causing him to be annoyed… Whether this was during his first or second run for president I don’t know, not having been here then. But anyway, that’s my guess — George the first.

        • a bit more...

President Harrison was here in 1891.

Bush I was here as vice president.

(The Estey band went to the McKinley inauguration; BUHS band went to Obama’s inauguration.)
