Folk Music Festival, Featuring David Amram!

The Next Stage Arts Project and The Putney School are delighted to co-present a special live concert event on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at 7:00pm, featuring folk music icons from the film For the Love of the Music; The Club 47 Folk Revival. Featured performers will include: iconic composer David Amram, Erik Lawrence (of The Levon Helm Band), Alana Amram & The Rough Gems, Tim Eriksen & The Trio De Pumpkintown, Diamond Doves, Haley Reardon and more. The concert will take place at Next Stage, 15 Kimball Hill, in Putney, Vermont.

For the Love of the Music is a documentary film exploring the rich history of Club 47, the iconic Cambridge, Massachusetts folk music mecca from 1958-1968. Narrated by Peter Coyote, it explores the influence the Club had on a unique group of folk musicians, from the evolution of the 60’s folk revival to the singer-songwriter era. The film, shot by Ezzie Films in Putney exactly two years ago, culminated from a series of folk music events at The Putney School in 2011, based on an exhibition of photographs there from the New England Folk Music Archives. Several of the musicians in the film have strong ties to The Putney School, including a number of alumni.

The concert at Next Stage will celebrate the reunion of these extraordinary musicians, in the town where they first gathered.

Tickets are $25, $20 for students and seniors, available online at www.nextstagearts.org or Offerings in Putney, Proceeds from this event will benefit the Next Stage Arts Project and the Putney School.
