Next Stage Arts wraps up its 2026 Bandwagon Summer Series with Kotoko Brass on Saturday, September 26, at Putney Inn Field, 57 Putney Landing Road in Putney. The final show of the series begins at 3:00 pm, with gates opening at 2:00 pm.
Described by The Boston Globe as “propulsive, infectious party music,” Kotoko Brass delivers an electrifying sound that bridges continents and traditions. The band blends the intricate rhythms of Central Ghanaian drumming with the deep grooves of Caribbean bass and keys and the exuberant punch of New Orleans-style horns.
Formed by brothers Ben and Brian Paulding, Kotoko Brass brings together master Ghanaian percussionists Attah Poku and Kwame Ofori alongside a powerhouse rhythm and horn section. Every musician plays an essential role, but the heartbeat of the music lies in the drums. Rooted in the Asante tradition, where rhythm and dance are inseparable, the band’s performances invite audiences to feel the music as much as hear it.
Kotoko Brass has built a growing following throughout New England with high-energy shows that get audiences moving. Drawing on diverse musical backgrounds and traditions, the group creates music that is vibrant, modern, and deeply communal—a celebration of heritage, collaboration, and connection.
Tickets are $24 in advance and $28 at the gate. Kids under 12 are admitted free. Food will be available from Saffron Restaurant.
The Bandwagon Summer Series is Next Stage Arts’ family-friendly outdoor cultural performance series, featuring music and other performing arts at fields, farms, and parks throughout the region. Audiences are encouraged to bring a picnic, blanket, or fold-up chair and enjoy the final afternoon of the 2026 series in a relaxed outdoor setting. Refreshments are available onsite, and every show includes a dedicated play area for children.
