Medicaid Monday Speak-out

The Vermont Workers’ Center / Nonviolent Medicaid Army is holding a speak-out on Monday, June 16 at 5 p.m. in front of the Brattleboro Post Office, 204 Main Street. The budget reconciliation bill currently in the Senate is projected to lead to at least 15 million people nationwide losing access to healthcare. If you are unable to get needed care or concerned about the assaults on Medicaid, rising health insurance costs and medical debt you are invited to join in. There will be information about the proposed cuts and ways we can organize for a healthcare system that puts people before profits.

Did all receive this email from Sen Peter Welch?

Right now, Republicans are trying to advance President Trump’s so-called “Big, Beautiful Bill,” which will take health care away from 16 million Americans, make it harder for millions of families to access food assistance, blow up our debt, and tank the economy. And it’s all to give a massive tax cut to the rich.

It’s important Washington hears your voice, and knows how real families will be hurt by this bill. That’s why I want to hear your stories.

Do you currently use or have you previously used Medicaid for your health care? Do you or have you previously used SNAP to help put food on the table? Share your story here.

I’m speaking out in Washington, because this will be one of the most harmful pieces of legislation in a generation.

One of the best ways we can fight this bill is by sharing personal stories about how it will harm working families.

I will keep fighting against this bill, and thank you for sharing your story.
