===========================================

Greetings Winter Farmers’ Market Fans!<

Despite what the thermometer might say, Winter Market season is here!  Join us at the River Garden this Saturday from 10 to 2 as we kick off the 9th season of the market.  Follow many of your favorites from the summer market and find some new faces indoors in a warm and dry location every week through March.

Look for local fruit, cider, syrup and more from Dwight Miller Orchards and gallons of syrup from Deer Ridge Farm too.  Partake in the continuation of the season’s produce bounty and lots of local meats from Amazing Planet, Circle Mountain, Deep Meadow, Guerrilla Grown, Old Schoolhouse Plantery, Walnut Ridge and Wild Shepherd.  Amazing baked breads and pastries from Orchard Hill Breadworks and Wild Flour Bakery. Pickles, preserves, local wines and more from Hickin’s Mountain Mowing, Clay Hill Corners, Putney Wine, and Vermont Quince.

Delicious lunches from Cai’s Dim Sum Teahouse, Thai Hut and new for this season the Dosa Kitchen with fabulous Indian curries, dosas and more.

Handcrafted pottery, soaps, jewelry, scarves, and children’s fantasy wear can be found, along with herbal tonics, salves, lotions and even hand dipped truffles!

New vendors include Big Picture Farm with goat
cheese, goat milk caramels and goat meat as well as West Townshend Botanicals with an amazing array of preserves, breads, soaps and more.

John Hughes will be gracing the space with the beautiful sounds of the Kora in the lunch cafe from 11-1.

  • Saturday Market - Do your Thanksgiving Shopping!

It’s going to start off cold tomorrow but we’ll be warm and cozy in the River Garden so do stop by to stock up on all you need for your Thanksgiving celebration! All the trimmings, the bread for the stuffing, local fruit wines, cranberry relishes, pickles, cheese, chocolates, fabulous pastries and oh so much more.

Dan DeWalt will be tickling the ivories in the lunch cafe from 11-1.

Get a jump start on your holiday shopping and keep those dollars here at home to support your local economy. Our Winter Farmers’ Market Gift Certificates make great gifts and the folks on your list get the added pleasure of choosing what’s just right for them from the amazing abundance at the market.

Debit and EBT always welcome. Market Match available for EBT shoppers.

Hope to see you at the market!

    • Thanksgiving Quince!

Vermont Quince will be there with our full line-up of products including seasonal quince-crabapple goodies that are perfect for the holiday table. We’re in the midst of processing a second ton of local quince but snuck in small batches of quince jelly & VTQ’s popular seasonal elixir, Quince Splash ™. We appreciate the patience of those who have been clamoring for these items the first few weeks of the winter farmers’ market.

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I would like to take a minute to thank Paul Harlow & his great farm manager, Jon Slason, for making the Harlow Farm kitchen available to Vermont Quince this year. Having regular access to a local licensed kitchen with the equipment needed for our range of products has allowed us to scale up most recipes and prepare to grow significantly in 2015. Cooking at Harlow Farm so frequently has given me the chance to see how much they do to support the local community & ensure that folks with low incomes can access great organic produce. Hats off to all the hard-working folks there!

Back to quince — mention this post for a free small jar of quince mustard or quince-ginger-lime chutney today! Hope to see you at the market.

  • Good day to shop in town...

…and stop by the Farmers’ Market at the River Garden 10-2.
    Hope to see you there!
