Recipe: Banana Smoothie

required:

blender, I use a cheap Hamilton Beach item I got on amazon for about $25
4 medium sized bananas
1 heaping tablespoon wheat germ (on the lowest shelf @Market32)
1 cup Stonyfield vanilla yogurt
1 cup orange juice
1 cup milk
drizzle with honey

for the alcoholic version, add 3 shots clear rum

blend on low for ~20 seconds, on superhigh for ~7 seconds

Pour into tall glass filled with ice.  Makes ~5 servings.

What makes this smoothie stick out is its texture, which I got as close to Orange Julius as I could muster.

    Where I said
    1 cup yogurt/OJ/milk
    I meant
    1/2 cup yogurt/OJ/milk

Regardless I encourage volume variations with those three ingredients; perhaps you’ll get a better-preferred texture.

“I got as close to Orange Julius…”

A very high bar to aim for, indeed!

I loved Orange Julius…mmmm… malls food courts. Yum. Wikipedia says “The signature beverage is a mixture of ice, orange juice, sweetener, milk, powdered egg whites and vanilla flavoring. ” It also says it is owned by Berkshire Hathaway, which gives it a distant Brattleboro cotton mill connection. : )
