Friday Fun – Fifteen Minutes of Family of Four Furry Fox Kittens (video)

We had a real treat last week. I was looking out the back door as I often do and noticed a few little heads peeking out from under one of our outbuildings. One, two, three… oh my… four baby foxes!

From last Friday through Wednesday we got to watch them come out for the first time to explore the world. Mom came back at regular intervals to check on them, but she’d leave them for extended periods while she went off hunting.

They jumped, pounced, ran around, chewed on things, and tackled each other. They’d take naps, climb on top of one another, and then sit patiently as it got time for mom to return. When she came back, they’d go nuts – running about and jumping on her.

At the end of this video, you’ll see the very last of them. Mom came back Tuesday evening, gathered up three of them, and took them to another location.  A bit dark and distant for filming, but I got it. Number four had to sit, lonely, for the next day, but mom eventually made the rounds and they were reunited as well.

Special thanks to our neighbor Bill, who had been putting out some scraps for momma fox earlier this spring, and to my cousin’s daughter Lizzy, who sent us a fabulous drawing of a fox (seen in the video, too).

Enjoy!

  • So sweet!

Momma is beautiful. Enthusiastic explorers in the sun, romping around. They’re growing so fast too. I’d just watch them all day. TY!

  • OH! My heartstrings!

Thank you SO MUCH, Chris. At last, some FOX NEWS that we can all agree on!
