  We have mixed up priorities and spending

  If you or I had been collecting images of Yahoo users via their webcams on a mass scale, we’d be facing criminal charges.

  It does get worse, though. One reason for requiring pictures of everyone at their computers is to manipulate, deceive, and destroy reputations.

  We’re spending gazillions on this while roads crumble and we worry about cutting local services. Amazing.

  Not going over well

  Senators Ron Wyden, Mark Udall and Martin Heinrich are not happy, according to the Guardian today:

  “We are extremely troubled by today’s press report that a very large number of individuals – including law-abiding Americans – may have had private videos of themselves and their families intercepted and stored without any suspicion of wrongdoing. If this report is accurate it would show a breathtaking lack of respect for the privacy and civil liberties of law-abiding citizens,” they said.”
