Huh. So much for the suggestions that Saturday might be more convenient.
I hope there is a large and very vocal turnout.

  • Need directions?

BAMS is located at 109 Sunny Acres Drive, Brattleboro, VT 05301

Turn onto Fairground Road. Take your first right onto Atwood St., just before BUHS. Follow Atwood St past church and around corner. You are now on Sunny Acres Road. Parking for the school is on your left. The main entrance is on the right end as you face the building.

  • getting to the meeting

the forecast looks pretty good for that time–temp midsixties and 30% chance of rain.
will the distance from downtown deter some who lack wheels?
is some kind of shuttle needed to get everyone out there who wants to go?

  • meeting location???

Notice just received from the librarian gives location as BUHS Multipurpose Room.
Is this the same space that is given here, but by a different name? Help!

  • Important Meeting

The Friends of Brooks Memorial Library encourage you to attend an important Brattleboro Selectboard meeting to discuss the reductions for all municipal departments. The Agenda posted on the Town’s website warns that this meeting to discuss the FY 15 budget cuts and appprove the warning for the next Representative Town Meeting will be held tomorrow, Thursday, May 1, 6:30 PM Brattleboro Area Middle School multi-purpose room. (109 Sunny Acres Drive – off Atwood – behind the High School).

For a background of the scale of these proposed reductions please see the BCTV recording of April 22 meeting, or read accounts in the Brattleboro Reformer or The Commons.

One scenario for the library reduces staff by by one or two full time people, which could result in as many as 75 fewer hours of worked per week, or 33.3% of the total full time professional/support personnel.

The other scenario requests a 5% across the board decrease in funding, which would affect personnel reductions as well, but also would include cuts to library acquisitions expenditures.

We hope you will join the Friends of the Library at this important meeting.
