  • Every week could be like this

A Wednesday holiday is somewhat unusual. Work two days, have one off, work two more.

Might be nice change from the 40 hour 9-5 if we adopted it permanently.

I’m not sure which I’d prefer, though. Every work week being Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday OR just having every weekend be a three day weekend?

  • Midweek Holidays

All holidays used to be this way… Memorial Day on May 30, for example. Then someone in the government decided to make many of them into 3-day weekends.

The midweek break is nice (and the reason why the stereotype of doctors playing golf on Wednesdays came about) but 3-day weekends make it easier to travel and are thus better for commerce.

  • Changing times

There was a radio story yesterday about how membership at VFWs and American Legions is declining, but also how new organizations with new purposes are popping up to fill the void for younger vets. And the older organizations trying new things to adapt.
