Next WBA Meeting on March 10th to Feature Q&A with District 1 Town Meeting Members

The next monthly meeting of the West Brattleboro Association (WBA) will be held on Thursday, March 10th at 6:00 PM in the Hayes Court Community Room on Garfield Drive (just west of the W Bratt PO). After a review of the treasury report, the WBA will discuss the status of the welcome signs and other pending issues.

A feature of this month’s meeting is the WBA hosting of District 1 Town Meeting representatives at 7:00 that evening. This is a chance for area residents to engage in an informal Q&A regarding the warrants for the upcoming March 12th Special Town Meeting which will specifically address the proposed police/fire facilities upgrade, and to engage them in a discussion about the March 19th Annual Representative Town Meeting. This part of the meeting will be facilitated by West Brattleboro’s own Orion Barber.

Other items on the regular agenda to be discussed before the 7:00 meeting with Town Reps include the WestB Welcome Letter along with any responses to the group’s letter sent to the Planning Commission regarding notification to abutters about public hearings when the abutting property is owned by a co-operative or collective. In addition, the group will further discuss the Neighborhoods Fund which helps WBA provide mini-grants to neighborhood groups doing their own service work, improving their grounds, etc. They will also discuss neighborhood safety in regards to drug dealing. Area residents are invited to attend the regular business meeting at 6:00 prior to the Q&A with the town reps, affording a chance to see the WBA in action.

Other items on the group’s agenda are the April 19th ‘BizUp, too’ meeting, Green-up Day on May
7th, and the (at least annual) Chicken BBQ on May 28th.

Meeting on the second Thursdays of the month, the next regular gathering of the West Brattleboro Association is April 14th, venue TBA.

The purpose of the Association is to promote the thoughtful and effective evolution of the community of West Brattleboro as a place that is safe, healthy, attractive, and prosperous and also to help West B residents be informed
Brattleboro community members.  WBA monthly meetings are open to all residents and business owners, and anyone else interested in West B.

  • D1 can do it...

Congrats again to District 1 for having a meeting for residents to meet with their district representatives. This is is an important part of our Representative Town Meeting system, and I believe, the second year in a row they’ve done this.

District 2 and 3 – when are your meetings? Where is the outreach to those you represent?
