BrattRock — The Brattleboro Youth Rock Festival — is coming to Brattleboro October 1, 2016!

A celebration of young musical talent, BrattRock’s mission is to provide a venue for area youth musicians and bands to gather, connect, learn, perform, inspire, and be inspired.

Participation is open to youth musicians and bands with all members under 20 years of age.

The one-day event features music workshops for youth, offered by local adult music professionals and educators and culminates with an evening concert with performances by participating youth musical acts.

  • So Jealous

Great to see a venue supporting raw ripe and fresh musical outlet in town. I wish there were a similar geezer thrasher bash where musically aspiring youth despite outward cover, convene to rock and hurl inchoate lyrics at an eager void.

    • Let me know if you get

Let me know if you get something going. I’m starting an all-female, all middle-aged band called Hot Flash! We’re in.

    • An idea

We could throw one for us aged, then the winner of the old-timers battle could take on the winning teen band for the best of Brattleboro title! Though, we old folks are lazy and probably won’t do it. : )

Glad that kids in this area have a chance to work something out and perform like this. Brattleboro and the surrounding area has a lot of young musical talent emerging year after year.

      • that would be pretty

that would be pretty hilarious! Brattrock is actually a non-competitive format, though — The idea was sparked by a group of parents of young musicians who had participated in a couple of “Battles” in the area. The inevitable sizing-up and critical comparison brought on by the competition aspect of the event kind of took away from the potential for kids to connect and just be inspired by one another–which is what we hope BrattRock will help them do. So… in short, there’s room for a geezers vs. youngsters rock out if anyone wants to organize it!
