  • Wonder what this is

Seems mildly weird for this time of year/week. Contracts are already done; not budget season yet.

    ???

  • Will we ever know?

There is no law preventing the members of a public body from disclosing publicly what occurred during an executive session.

I am not suggesting that selectboard members violate confidentiality; but what I am suggesting is that later on when whatever had been discussed is no longer sensitive, they tell us about their discussion. Surely that would be interesting, informative, and would honor transparency: but I cannot recall when that was ever done.

    • Training

They often seem to be under the impression that they can NEVER discuss what happened in Executive Session which, as you point out, isn’t true.

The confidentiality requirement is before and during the meeting(s) and sometimes a little bit after. A board member COULD certainly tell us all about the executive sessions of years gone by if they so choose.
