Brooks Memorial Library Director Resigns, Candidate Search to Resume

The Town of Brattleboro has received and accepted the resignation of Brooks Memorial Library Director Julie Perrin. Brooks Memorial Library will be closed on Friday, May 29, 2026, as the Town makes plans to resume the search for the next library director.

“The Town will be heading in a different direction, and we intend to resume our efforts immediately,” said Brattleboro Town Manager John Potter. “We’re committed to
identifying a strong candidate and grateful for the dedication of library staff and the community’s patience during this transition in leadership.”

The library will reopen on Saturday, May 30, at 10 a.m., and library services and operations will continue as normal during the candidate search.

Additional information about the recruitment process will be shared as it becomes available.

    Anyone have any inside info? I’ve heard the new/former director had a very different style than the former one, in ways that might rub staff the wrong way. But that’s just talk, and in any case, why did she quit?

    This is a shock. I just met her when she stopped at the Brattleboro Senior Center. What is the reason?

    Maybe a new inter-library loan policy requires you to return Library Directors after 10 days? : )
