The Brattleboro Selectboard will hold a regular meeting on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at 6:15pm in the Selectboard Meeting Room at the Brattleboro Municipal Center (230 Main Street, Room 212) and over Zoom. Prior to the regular meeting at 5:00pm the Board will meet in the Selectboard Meeting Room to conduct Committee Interviews with candidates for the Arts Committee. The Board will also convene at 5:35pm and is expected to move directly into executive session to discuss contracts. The attached agenda contains information on how to access the meeting remotely, including the required “passcode.” Closed captioning will be available for deaf and hard-of-hearing community members. The backup materials for this meeting will be available on the town website by the end of the day.

In a memorandum dated June 5, 2026, Recreation and Parks Director Carol Lolatte discusses the purchase of a replacement Zero Turn Mower and recommends awarding the contract to United Ag & Turn – John Deere. By approving the Consent Agenda, the Board will award the contract to United Ag & Turn – John Deere for the 2013 Zero Turn Mower Replacement for $19,308.60.
In a memorandum dated June 12, 2026, Town Manager John Potter discusses the Parade permit application for the Buddy Walk. No street closures are required. By approving the Consent Agenda, the Board will approve a parade permit for the Buddy Walk on Saturday, October 10, 2026.
In a memorandum dated June 12, 2026, Town Manager John Potter discusses the parade permit application for Brattleboro Goes Fourth 4th of July parade down Main Street. Street closures are required for this event. By approving the Consent Agenda, the Board will approve a parade permit for the Brattleboro Goes Fourth 4th of July Parade to take place on July 4, 2026.
In a memorandum dated June 12, 2026, Town Manager John Potter discusses a parade permit request to hold a soapbox derby on August 8th, 2026. This was an annual event until 2017, and the organizers would like to continue it. This will take place on the industrial street at the upper cul-de-sac at the Exit 1 Industrial Park. Racers will race down to the GS Precision parking lot. This industrial street will be closed at that time. By approving the Consent Agenda, the Board will approve a parade permit for the Kornguth Soapbox Derby to be held on August 8, 2026.
In a memorandum dated June 12, 2026, Town Manager John Potter discusses a parade permit request from the Red Clover Rovers to hold their Fun Race on July 4, 2026. Participants will use sidewalks and crosswalks, and no road closures will be required. By approving the Consent Agenda, the Board will approve a parade permit for the Red Clover Rovers Fun Race on July 4, 2026.
In a memorandum dated June 16, 2026, Town Clerk Hilary Francis discusses a Tobacco License and Tobacco Endorsement Permit (TSEP) application from Elyas & Son Inc Express Fuel Service. Staff have reviewed this application and recommend approval. By approving the Consent Agenda, the Board will approve the Tobacco License and TSEP for Elyas & Son Inc Express Fuel Service, located at 37 Putney Road.
In a memorandum dated June 16, 2026, Town Clerk Hilary Francis discusses the First and Third Clas Liquor Licenses and Outside Consumption Permit applications for Rail and River Tavern. Staff have reviewed and recommend approval of these licenses once they have acquired the required sign permits from the Planning Department and upon receiving their Certificate of Occupancy from the Vermont Division of Fire Safety. By approving the Consent Agenda, the Board will approve the First and Third Class Liquor Licenses and Outside Consumption Permit for Rail and River Tavern, located at 36 Bridge Street, contingent on the business acquiring sign permits from the Brattleboro Planning Department and receiving their Certificate of Occupancy from the Vermont Division of Fire Safety.

In a memorandum dated June 5, 2026, DPW Director Dan Tyler discusses a Utility Bill appeal from 18 Highlawn Road. After the occupant received a water bill that indicated unusually high consumption, Town Staff investigated and did not find any evidence of a meter malfunction, meter reading error, billing error, leak, or other administrative error.
POTENTIAL MOTION: STAFF ASKS THE BOARD TO CONSIDER THE CUSTOMER’S REQUEST AND DETERMINE WHETHER ANY ADJUSTMENT IS APPROPRIATE UNDER THE CIRCUMSTANCES.
