I-91 Brattleboro Bridge Replacement Project Update – Week of February 16th, 2014

I-91
Northbound I-91 traffic has been relocated onto the southbound bridge. Traffic will remain reduced to one lane in each direction on I-91 until completion of the new bridge in the Fall of 2015.
Weather permitting, night work will be conducted Sunday night, February 16th through Friday night, February 21st.

Route 30
The speed limit on Route 30 near the work zone has been reduced to 40 mph. This reduction will remain in effect through the Fall of 2015. Project-related truck activity on Route 30 will continue. Route 30 will be reduced to a single lane intermittently both day and night, with flaggers regulating traffic within the work zone.

ROUTE 30 CLOSURE IN LATE FEBRUARY OR EARLY MARCH: VT Route 30 will be closed for up to a six-day period in either late February or Early March. The actual closure dates will be communicated to stakeholders a minimum of 72 hours in advance after the team is able to confirm forecasted weather conditions are acceptable for work to proceed. Once the closure begins, no through traffic will be permitted on VT Route 30 through the I-91 right-of-way. We will try to avoid a weekend closure for Route 30.

Upper Dummerston Road
No project impacts to Upper Dummerston Road are anticipated for the week of February 16th.

West River Trail
The trail will be closed at the Marina Trailhead and through access will not be permitted from the north, due to unsafe ground conditions.
Signage at the Marina Trailhead and Rice Farm Road Trailhead will indicate current trail status. In addition, we will keep the project’s website (www.i91brattleborobridge.com) up to date on the current status of the trail. The trail is open from the northern trailhead to a point just north of the bridge construction area. The northern trailhead access location is on Rice Farm Road, about a mile south of the Iron Bridge.

West River
Overhead demolition activities will continue over the next several months on the existing northbound bridge. Workers will monitor the site and ensure that recreational traffic is kept away from overhead activities.
