Return To Humanity

Our inaction, our passivity, our naivety and the ease with which we can be manipulated has fueled the forces of fear, power, greed and suppression. Most U.S. citizens now walk around in self-induced comas, too ignorant to question, too afraid to ask and too numb to feel.

Is our government capable of killing its own people? Look … at what we have done to the environment and the poor for oil. Look … at the brutal dictators we have brought to power and continue to fund. Look … at the wars we have manufactured. The U.S. has become the 21st Century’s “Death Star.” We do not prevent war, we make war. We do not protect humanity and prevent atrocities, we kill people and commit atrocities whenever our multinationals are affected. Let’s-be-clear PROFIT defines our “national interests” and our foreign policy not free thinking and not free speech.

Corrupt banking practices, oil and war have been the backbone of this economy for years. We have been a government by and for the elite for quite some time. It is not about morality and freedom, it is about money, power and the shaping of the public mind by private media conglomerates to prevent the public from realizing what is really going on.

This “global economy” has enabled open season on the poor, as giant multinationals victimize unsuspecting countries and rape them for their resources. Outside of the public eye these corporations practice a predatory capitalism on a scale as brutal as one can imagine. Humanity and the environment are routinely sacrificed whenever profits are threatened. A business culture of bribery, threats and death is allowed to flourish under the auspices of the IMF and World Bank who often play pivotal roles in the privatization of land, oil and water and the debt enslavement of the masses.

We must now open our hearts and minds to reality. Goliath must be faced, but not with our fists, with our minds. Calls for scientific analysis, dialogue, discussion and investigation are not subversive activities. Exercising ones right to question, to assemble and to peacefully protest is not domestic terrorism. In fact awareness, reason, logic and critical thinking are signs of hope. They affect the choices we make today that will determine the kind of people we become tomorrow.

  • Aware?

It’s gonna get worse before it gets better.
I wish more people were as aware as you.

  • Hype

I think lots of people are aware, but many just don’t know what to do with such an avalanche of crud being dumped on them daily.

The suggestions are helpful. Stay informed, question things, get together, say no…

Or as Public Enemy put it, don’t believe the hype!

  • The moment of decision ...

I offer you two pills. Take the one pill, and you will go on believing in hierarchies; that we are at the mercy of governments, corporations, and evil agents. That we have no choice but to accept systems of violence, where crimes are met with punishment; where exploitation is the rule, where you know that when you are hit, you have no choice but to hit back.

But take the other pill, and you will awaken from that nightmare. You will forever learn what can never be forgotten; that you have the power, easy, free, and instantly available, to throw off the yoke of illusion, to escape the matrix of false belief, to magically transform violence into peace, hatred into love, indifference into the deepest possible caring. The rest of your life will be dedicated to co-creating world peace, justice, and integrity.

    Which pill will you choose?

    • Pills?

Your metaphor about the choice of pills is interesting in an Alice in Wonderland kind of way but I fail to see the actual solutions that you imply exist. Are you referring to a mass attitude shift and an uprising of the people to overthrow those in power?

      • Aspirin

        Aspirin

      • Pharmacology

“And it seems to me perfectly in the cards that there will be within the next generation or so a pharmacological method of making people love their servitude, and producing … a kind of painless concentration camp for entire societies, so that people will in fact have their liberties taken away from them but will rather enjoy it, because they will be distracted from any desire to rebel by propaganda, brainwashing, or brainwashing enhanced by pharmacological methods.” Aldous Huxley (1947)

  • Maybe So Maybe No

Times do seem unusually, almost paralyzingly messed up right now. When you really look at it, as Chris does above, it seems almost possible that we’ll get out of the way of all that, especially as there are still vast gulfs between those who would have us look at reality and those of us who’d like to keep doing pretty much what we’ve been doing all along…

We don’t agree about what’s going on, us people, nor do we have any idea what we should do about it, because it isn’t just a few things that are wrong, it’s a whole truckload. And what do you do about problems that big? Methinks most of us throw up our hands and go back to hoeing our potatoes. Which is very frustrating to people who think something needs to be done right now.

With regard to using magical mind power to make a better world, I’m all for it. I do think you need some critical mass for that to work, though, since none of us can make anyone else do anything they don’t want to do (except by complete coercion). But positive energy is good and will certainly help to the extent that it’s actually getting out there. Super positive energy toward things that are bad is unhelpful. Speaking for myself, of course. 😉

  • Which "Pill" is this?

Would this fall into that category?
